“In the Realm of the Basses” spoilers

January 5th is right around the corner! New Gossip Girl, yay! “In the Realm of the Basses” looks to be a really good episode, especially if you love Chuck. And who doesn’t love Chuck? Seriously!

Here are some spoilers for this episode:

Chuck’s uncle Jack Bass arrives on the scene. He’s Bart’s younger bro (age 30), and he will be around for a few episodes. Will he try to take over Bass Industries? It seems like it, but it also seems like he’ll help Chuck, since Chuck is out of control drinking, etc. (Bangkok anyone?). Blair is trying to get into an exclusive women’s club but remains loyal to her friends when some of the ladies start talking bad about the van der Woodsen/Bass family.

Serena’s grandmother CeCe is staying with the family in the aftermath of Bart’s death. Lily, acting strangely, goes out for a walk in the park.

Chuck isn’t returning Blair’s calls. Blair thinks he should be with someone who cares about him right now.

Dan goes to see Serena; she’s worried about her family and tells Dan he’s been “a rock” for her during the last few days. Aaron shows up to see S also, checking on her before the funeral. She tells both of them that she’s going to go to the funeral with her family and she’ll see them later.

Lily meets Rufus in the park. She tells him how guilty she feels because Bart was on his way to see her when he died, and that she was going to end the marriage. Rufus tells Lily he will wait for her, whether it’s six months or six years. As Rufus leaves the park, CeCe sees him because she had followed Lily.

Chuck meets with Bart’s private investigator to get the info he was delivering to Bart on the night he died. The PI is like, I worked for Bart, not you, and lets Chuck know he intends to give the info to whoever pays the highest price.  Lily might be interested, too.

Lily listens to a voice mail message that Bart left her just before he died. It says that he knows the real reason she was in the hospital in France.

Eric is wondering if his boyfriend (Jonathan) made it to the funeral. Later, Eric sees Jonathan and is happy.

Nate and Blair try to get Chuck presentable for the funeral - they get out of the limo at the cemetery and he’s really drunk, he can’t walk without Nate and Blair helping him. Blair thinks it is important for Chuck to attend his father’s funeral. Suddenly Chuck sees that Dan is there and he charges toward him, telling him that Rufus is the reason Bart is dead and telling Dan to leave. Serena wants Dan to stay, but he leaves because of Chuck. When Lily tries to talk to Chuck he says, “Don’t touch me, whore” and tells her he doesn’t have a family. Chuck basically makes a scene at the funeral and turns his back on everyone (family, friends, even Blair.)

Dan and Rufus talk back at the loft about what happened at the funeral. Rufus is curious about the status of Dan and Serena (he’s thinking about finally getting together with Lily) and Dan insists that they’re just friends.

Nate tells Blair that she’s sweet and maternal with Chuck. Blair replies, “I’m not maternal, I’ve just been spending too much time with Cyrus and I’m turning Jewish.”

Cyrus wants to marry Eleanor right away, with Bart’s death giving him a wake-up call about how short life is. Jenny offers to make Eleanor something to wear for her wedding; Jenny wants to make things right with Eleanor and is happy to be able to do this for her.

Aaron wants Serena to go to Buenos Aires with him for Christmas but she’s hesitant, she tells him her family is a mess and she can’t. She’ll think about it.

Chuck tells Lily she disgusts him, Bart’s death is her fault,  and that she disrespected her marriage. She says she did no such thing.

Bart’s private investigator wants CeCe to pay him for the info about Lily’s hospitalization. Lily doesn’t want the info to come out, so she’s like, pay him! CeCe says basically, look, it’s already out, why not let it out and move on with a clean slate.

Chuck storms out of his apartment after telling Eric they’re not brothers. Blair goes after him. As he’s getting in his limo she tells him she wants to be there for him, no matter what. He’s like, “You’re not my girlfriend.” Blair says, “We’re Blair and Chuck. Chuck and Blair.” She tells him she’ll always stand by him. He asks, why would you do that? Blair replies, “Because…I love you.” Chuck says, “That’s too bad.” He gets in the limo and leaves. Blair wipes away a tear.

Serena talks to Dan about  Aaron invitation to Buenos Aires. Dan’s like if you want to go, go. It’s like Serena wants Dan to tell her not to go, but he doesn’t.

Blair confides in Cyrus that she just told  Chuck she loves him - she’s upset about it, and she says “Only a masochist could ever love such a narcissist.” Cyrus gives her a huge hug and reassures Blair, telling her Chuck needs time.

Serena finds out about Lily’s feelings for Rufus & after some discussion Serena tells her mom she should finally be with Rufus. (When Serena and Dan were dating, Serena had begged her mom not to get together with Rufus because then S and D would be siblings!) Serena decides to try to make it work with Aaron.

Dan and Jenny talk about how he still has feelings for Serena, and Jenny is like why don’t you just tell her? Jenny’s on her way to drop Eleanor’s dress of so she tells Dan to come with her (be the dress holder) and they’ll see Serena. When Serena and Dan talk, she explains that it’s not their time right now and that their parents are in love. (Dan didn’t know about Rufus and Lily.) Serena is going to Buenos Aires with Aaron.

Lily thinks her mom bought the info from the PI, but she didn’t - Chuck did. Chuck lets Lily know he has the information about her. Lily says, “Please don’t turn away from the people that love you. Your father never learned that.”Lily and Rufus plan a trip together to Cornwall since all of the kids will be going out of town.

At Cyrus and Eleanor’s wedding, Blair seems happy.

Chuck burns the PI info.

As they celebrate the wedding, Dorota whispers to Blair. She goes to her room to find Chuck sitting on her bed. She says “What do you think you’re doing here?” but then she goes to him and just holds him. He says nothing.

Rufus is packing for his trip with Lily when CeCe shows up at the loft. Rufus assumes she’s there to try to keep them apart, again. She’s not, she wants Lily to be happy. But she tells Rufus there is something that needs to come out before Rufus and Lily stand a chance of making things work out…

A little later Rufus tells Dan he will never be with Lily. He goes to meet Lily, obviously mad, with no intention of actually going on the trip. He says, “Just tell me one thing, was it a boy or a girl?”

Chuck and Blair lay together in her bed, but when Blair wakes up there is a note from Chuck telling her she deserves better and not to come looking for him.
